Yeah, these are nice. Your friends, I'm guessing?

Yep, they're all members the Mankai Company, just like me. Mostly the Summer Troupe - they're the ones I usually go on stage with. It's been a while, though.

[agleam]

You want to tell me about them?

[something to lighten the mood.]

[dms]

[ ...he smiles warmly. ]

Sure. They're like a second family to me. The whole Mankai Company is, but especially Summer.

[ he'll point out five people: the two with kumon, the one with pink hair, and the one knitting a triangle plush. ]

Summer is all about comedy, so they're all really energetic and bright and good at lifting your spirits - just like you'd expect for summer vibes, IMO. There's never a dull moment with them. Yukki and TenTen fight a lot, too, but they're some of the most dedicated and supportive.

They actually told me that I should leave the troupe, if it meant helping my art career - even in the middle of a show where I was the lead. I didn't do it, but really it meant a lot.

[agleam]

[his smile softens a little.]

Sounds like you've got a pretty good group going, then.

[dms]

Absolutely. I miss them a lot, but being here makes me feel a little closer to them, you know? Like rehearsals could start again any minute.

[agleam]

[he nods.]

Yeah. We'll just have to make sure to get you back to them for real, soon.

[dms]

You, too! And everyone else. We've all got people like that to go home too.

[agleam]

[he pauses for a moment, something going a little still in his expression for just a second, before he nods and brings it back to normal.]

Right. All of us have things we need to get back to, so... Even when it's hard like this, we've gotta keep going. No other option.

[dms]

Right. We'll figure it out, and we'll see everyone again soon.

[ ...after a slight hesitation, he adds: ]

Hey, if I said something wrong, I'm sorry. I don't want to make this whole thing harder on you somehow.

[agleam]

[there's surprise for a second, before he shakes his head.]

No - no, you didn't, I promise. Things are a little bit, um, complicated for me back home right now, that's all. But you didn't have any way to know that.

[dms]

Oh... Well, I hope things will work out soon, once you make it back.

[agleam]

I'm going to make sure it does.

[he nods, though.]

Thank you.

[dms]

Good. Then I can't wait to hear how it all turns out later!

[agleam]

Right. Assuming we get something that can send messages between worlds again... I'll make sure to send everyone an update as soon as I can.

[dms]

Eh? Did you not get something like that when you left before?

[agleam]

We got something we can use to send messages, yeah, but I think it only works for the worlds everyone at the school came from. So we'd have to get something new if I wanted to talk to you or anyone else I didn't know before this place, I'm pretty sure.

[dms]

Hm... That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that.

...Maybe they'll give us magical typewriters, or something?

[agleam]

Magical typewriters would be pretty cool!

[dms]

Right?! The only issue is how we'd carry it around. They're nowhere near as portable as a phone.

[agleam]

That's true... It would make traveling pretty tough!

[dms]

Ohhh, but if it's magical, maybe it would be able to collapse somehow? Or, like, turn into a mini typewriter!

[agleam]

Ohh, or if it's magical, it could also shrink...

[dms]

Yeah, yeah! Then you could just slip it into your pocket and go! Easy as pie!

[agleam]

That'd be really cool! I'll have to ask the staff about it.
