[ he's gathering the technicolor baby chicks in his lap. ]
No, it's okay. I did say I'd tell you later.
Refracting was something that happened here in the prism - a color imbalance that messed with your head. It meant you'd do things that you normally never would, including killing someone. So it was a little like the shadows in that respect, I think.
We always caught at least one killer here, but there were two each week, so the ones who weren't voted for were still refracting. Usually we could find who it was and look for ways to help them, but not always - and in the meantime, they were still refracting and getting worse and acting more erratic. [ a soft cough into his hand, but he continues like it didn't happen. ] The times we couldn't help them, they turned into monsters and had to be killed.
It's stuff like that that worries me about those shadows they mentioned. We don't know enough about it yet to know what'll happen, so...
So do I. But that means it might be... I don't want to say good, because it's not, but... maybe better that we found Clem than not. It means the shadows will find someone else, but at least she'll be free of it.
No need to apologize! But no, I don't really know a ton. I can always learn, but we had real doctors in the prism and the med bay, you know? We didn't really need to know much.
I still wanted to get the med kit to help out, though. At least having the supplies means someone who does know can do something while I learn.
If it's not too much trouble, then yeah, absolutely! There's no med bay here, so we'll need all the help we can get, right? Especially as more people go on those adventures.

... You're right. It does help.
[She'll take a few more moments to just feel its warmth before speaking again.]
I know it's a heavy subject, but... would you be willing to tell me more about what you mentioned during the trial? About "refracting"?

I had no idea... That's awful.
I really hope it isn't like that here...

I-I mean, I don't hope that anyone could lose control, or turn into monsters, but...
It would be nice if there was some meaning in the choices we make, and some good that we can do by making them...

... Oh, um, I'm sorry to change the subject, but there's something else I wanted to ask.
Do you know much about first aid, Kazunari?

[very funny that these two are both gonna be useless next week.]

Then I'll be in your care from now on! I'll do my best to be a good student!
